Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy
At the Best Western White House Hotel we have recognised we have role to play in the local community and a responsibility to promote good practise as a way of life.
We are a family business, which takes it lead from the owner who has worked tirelessly for and donated money to local charities in particular Cystic Fibrosis and the Dr Benjamin Angel Trust.
Community
Best Western White House Hotel has recently become involved in supporting The FREdome Visionary trust (www.fredome.org) which has the aim of replacing the negative things we see in the news each day with the collective goodwill and best ideas of communities. FREdome is currently seeking lottery funding to expand its successful launch in Watford onto the National Stage.
The hotel has supported a number of local schools in their charitable endeavours and with work experience programs. We currently have two members of staff in management positions whom originally had work experience placements with us from a local college.
Likewise we believe in looking after the team who work here, and currently we have 1 member of our team with over 30 years service, 4 with over 20 years service and 3 with over 10 years service.
The hotel is also the host of our local BNI (Business Network International) Chapter so placing it firmly at the centre of Watford small business community and allowing us to use local services whenever possible.
Through this group we have hosted events to raise funds for the local Peace Hospice and members of the team have entered the local 10K run for 2011.
Environment
Reducing energy consumption is one of our key management objectives. Initiatives have included replacing taps to reduce water wastage and instructing a new waste company to enable us to recycle more effectively. We also look to reduce wastage by effectively training staff in recycling and managing equipment at the hotel. January 2009 saw us introduce energy efficient boilers in the old house of the hotel and 2011 in other corridors. In our bedrooms we have pump dispensers for our shampoo and a re-use programme for towels. All produce where possible is locally sourced.
